Since its closure in 2013 Stow Hill Library by Newport City Council in March 2013, a small committed band of volunteers have been working together to re-open it. This vision was finally achieved at the beginning of April 2015, when the newly refurbished community arts space that is Cwtsh opened its door to the public for the first time.

A ‘community library’ and arts space (but not as we know it Jim!), Cwtsh is a not very big ‘white box’ designed to accommodate a wide variety of arts, crafts, literary, educational and recreational activities. Not simply a library as before, although we will continue to host a small children’s library.

In our pursuit of becoming a valued community resource Cwtsh has also embarked on an ambitious programme of events, classes, regular ‘pop up’ happenings, as well as one off musical and literary entertainments. You can see most of what we are up to and what we plan by looking at our events page on this site,  our Facebook page and  regular postings to Streetlife.

Contact us now to be part of this exciting new local community project.
